Finike is a district and a seaside resort of Antalya Province of Turkey. Finike is located in the south of the Teke peninsula. It is famous with its oranges which is also the symbol of its municipality.Finike (Lycian town of Phoenicus), was founded by Phoenicians in the 5th Century BC. For centuries it was an important trade port that provided the aggricultural export needs for Limyra, the capital city of Lycia. Its name is thought to have derived from the ancient Phoenicians. The ruins of Limyra are to be seen three or four miles east of the Finike, in the district of Antalya, they consist of a theatre, tombs, Sarcophagi, bas-reliefs, Greek and Lycian inscriptions, etc.
